The clinics started back in 2003 when the historical Hunts PCT commissioned dermatology services to be set up in the community. Progressive changes in NHS funding have created the need for general dermatology problems to be seen by GPs with a special interest in dermatology.

These began at Buckden Surgery and then spread to involve Eaton Socon Health Centre, Warboys and St Ives. We have continued to have a presence at Hinchinbrooke Hospital.

We are a team consisting of GP's with a special interest (GPWSI) in dermatology and specialist nurses. We also have expanded and provide vasectomy procedures done by an experienced GP with a special interest in vasectomy. We have since also added lymphoedema to our community provision list.

Minor surgery procedures are peformed which include ellipse excisions, shave excisions punch biopsies, currettage and cautery as well as cryo therapy (with liquid nitrogen).

Conditions treated in our dermatology out patient clinics are varied. We have consultant's supervision once a month on a Saturday morning, where all of us converge to do a massive joint clinic to learn and share ideas on patients.

We hope to encourage local GPs to be able to learn and have their own clinics in the future with us perpetuating this model of care which enhances the patients care closer to home.

We data capture our clinical information on a well known medical information system called 'SYSTMOne'.
